Early detection and prevention are key to staying healthy. We offer several free NHS and paid-for health screening services at our Wigston pharmacy.
NHS Blood Pressure Check
We offer free blood pressure checks for adults aged 40 and over without a known diagnosis of hypertension. If your reading is high, we can advise on lifestyle changes and refer you to your GP if needed.
Flu Vaccination
We provide NHS flu jabs for eligible patients and private flu vaccinations for those who do not qualify on the NHS. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome during the autumn and winter season.
Cholesterol & Health Checks
We offer private health checks including cholesterol testing and general wellness screenings. Results are discussed confidentially with our pharmacist and advice is given on diet, exercise and lifestyle.
More NHS & Private Services
From contraception advice to emergency supplies, our Wigston pharmacy team is trained to support a wide range of healthcare needs.
We provide the NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service, which includes oral contraception consultations for women who need to start, stop or continue the contraceptive pill. Our pharmacist will carry out a confidential consultation, check your blood pressure where appropriate, and supply up to a three-month supply if suitable.
We supply emergency hormonal contraception (the “morning-after pill”) on both the NHS and a private basis, depending on eligibility. The consultation is completely confidential and can be conducted in our private consultation room.
We can support you in quitting smoking by providing advice, nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) products and, where available, access to NHS stop-smoking programmes. Our team can help you choose the right products and create a quit plan.
You do not always need a GP for minor health issues. Our pharmacist can advise on a wide range of common ailments including coughs, colds, hay fever, skin conditions, digestive problems and aches and pains. We can recommend appropriate over-the-counter treatments.
If you have run out of your regular prescription medicine and cannot obtain a new prescription from your GP immediately, our pharmacist may be able to supply an emergency quantity under strict professional and legal criteria. This is not guaranteed and is intended for genuine emergencies only.
Do not throw unused or expired medicines in the bin or flush them down the toilet. Bring them to our pharmacy and we will dispose of them safely and environmentally responsibly through the NHS medicines disposal scheme.
